The Graviner MK5 measures the oil mist density in a diesel engine’s crankcase. The MK5 will sound an alarm if the density is higher than a predetermined limit.
Graviner Oil Mist Detector is very successful unit and it is using by hundreds of ships.
Graviner Mark 5 model has a sample pipe system for collecting oil mist from the crankcase. Additionally, it has a display and controls panel that shows the density of the oil mist and lets the user choose and test various functions.
The Mark 4, Mark 5, Mark 6 and Mark 7 versions of the Kidde Graviner Oil Mist Detector The most recent and cutting-edge model is the Mark 7, which can monitor up to 10 detector heads on up to 10 control units per control unit. It likewise has a touch screen show that shows the oil mist level for each engine and demonstrates the caution conditions.
Graviner Mk6 OMD is an Analogue Addressable Oil Mist Detection System.
Capable of Monitoring up to 64 Detector Heads fitted on up to 8 Engines. Each Detector Head Monitors a Single Crank Space. it is a Stand-Alone Device and Assigned a Unique Address. it Gathers Oil Mist Density Data and Converts it to a Signal for The Control Unit.
The Kidde Graviner Mark 6 Oil Mist Detector measures the density of oil mist in each crank space using light scattering. A microprocessor, a photodiode, and a light source make up the detector head. The oil mist particles partially disperse the light beam that passes through the crank space from the light source. The photodiode converts the scattered light into an electrical signal by detecting it. The microprocessor processes the sign and works out the oil mist density. After that, the oil mist density data is transformed into a digital signal and sent to the control unit via the data cable. The oil mist density for each detector head is displayed by the control unit and compared to the predetermined alarm levels. The control unit activates the alarm outputs and shuts down the engine if the oil mist density exceeds the alarm levels.
Some of the benefits of using Kidde Graviner Mark 6 Oil Mist Detector are:
Multi-engine capability: It can monitor up to 8 engines on a single system.
High scan rate: It can scan 64 detectors in 1.2 seconds.
Complete flexibility: It can be configured to monitor from one to eight engines.
Pipe-free installation: It does not require sample pipes or air supply or extractor fans.
Compact detectors: The detectors are mounted on the engine with plug/socket connection and connected to the control unit via junction box.
Low initial cost and simple to extend: It has a simple cable run between engine and control unit and operates on 24v DC.
Event log: It records the oil mist density data and alarm events for each detector.
Graviner Mark7 OMD is an auto addressed oil mist detection system capable of monitoring up to 10 detector heads per control unit on up to 10 control units and each detector head monitors a single crank space. The control unit, which is engine mounted, can be configured to monitor from one to ten detectors. Alarm levels and alarm output requirements are all set from the control unit or from the optional display unit.
The touch screen display shows, on demand, the signal from each detector and indicates the oil mist level for each engine. In the event of an alarm, the display immediately shows the oil mist signals for the relevant engine. Each detector on an engine can be displayed on demand and automatically under alarm conditions.
